On October 8th, 2012, 6:00 p.m., join José Andrés and Anthony Bourdain at the Ronald Reagan Building for one fight against hunger.
The Capital Food Fight brings the food industry's best talent together to support DC Central Kitchen's unique brand of community empowerment. Dozens of hot restaurants serve signature dishes to guests while top chefs battle on-stage. Food critics and national celebrities are on hand to mingle with the crowd and add to the excitement.
"For the well-heeled, well-fed gastronomes who attend dozens of wine dinners and restaurant openings each year, the annual Capital Food Fight is the créme de la créme of foodie events. …it seemed as though every local restaurant you'd ever heard of had set up a table for its chefs to proffer samples of signature dishes."

Since our founding in 1989, DC Central Kitchen has prepared 25 million meals for our low-income and at-risk neighbors in Washington, DC. That's a lot of meals – but don't mistake us for a soup kitchen.
The 5,000 meals we dish out every day are loaded into our fleet of trucks and distributed at little or no cost to 100 nearby homeless shelters, transitional homes, and nonprofit organizations, saving them money and nourishing their clients.
Most importantly, our meals go out with a message: in our main kitchen, we offer a rigorous Culinary Job Training program for unemployed men and women who want to replace homelessness, addiction, and incarceration with new careers and changed lives.
To help fund these programs and create good jobs for our culinary graduates, we're breaking new ground in the world of social enterprise, serving healthy, scratch-cooked meals in DC public schools and delivering nutritious snacks to corner stores in low-income neighborhoods. We know food can do so much more than fill stomachs: our mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. Our holistic approach to fighting hunger empowers our most vulnerable neighbors to lead healthier, more prosperous lives.
